We’re All About the Mission
The mission of Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center is to serve all for the greater glory of God and the more universal good. We offer to all, group and individually directed retreats, spiritual direction, companionship and spiritual counseling. Our ministry is based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola; a journey in meditation, praying the scriptures and finding God in all things.
…And Built on The Love of God!
Opened in December 1960 by the Jesuit Fathers and Brothers of the New Orleans Province of the Society of Jesus, the property that Ignatius House Retreat Center sits on was a generous gift from Suzanne Spalding Schroder and her son John, a Jesuit Priest. Their hope, along with the Province, was to create the perfect place for retreat, reflection and spiritual renewal for those seeking to discover and live out God’s will in their lives.
Because of the Schroder family’s love of God, and their generous donation, for more than half a century Ignatius House Retreat Center has offered Silent Weekend Retreats, Days of Reflection, and spiritual direction to individuals and groups of all faiths.
