Why Make a retreat?

  • A spiritual retreat offers a place where seekers are seeking God and God is seeking seekers.

  • It’s an opportunity to “retreat” from the noise of our daily lives and to enjoy just “being” with God.

  • It provided the environment to rest one’s body, mind and soul; it’s an invitation from God to “come to me, all of you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”

  • The silent environment of a retreat allows us to break our ordinary patters of daily life.  In such stillness we nourish our lives with the solitude of silence, meditation and prayer.

  • By attending a “silent retreat,” you are able to nurture your listening skills where you can find your true self and hear that tiny, whispering voice of God.

  • A retreat provides a focused opportunity to evaluate our relationships with God and others as well as to learn and strengthen practices that may lead us to change or improve these relationships.

  • The regularity of conferences, prayers, liturgy, meals and rest offered by a spiritual retreat helps to keep one spiritually and physically healthy.

Medical doctors could easily recommend that individuals take several days every year for a spiritual retreat, simply to recharge their batteries and to survive the intensity of their stress levels of daily lives.
