Jennifer Batka is finishing a two-year spiritual director training program in May 2020 and upon completion she will receive her spiritual direction certificate. She felt God’s leading to enter the spiritual direction ministry a few years ago and since then Jennifer has been on a journey of walking more closely with Jesus, growing in her self-awareness, and allowing him to heal old wounds and hurts with his love, grace, and tenderness. Jennifer longs for others to experience God’s kindness and love and is humbled and honored whenever she sits with someone and holds space for them in spiritual direction.
Jennifer has been an active member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church for 30 years where she has served in many different roles in women’s ministry, taught Sunday school classes, served in children’s ministry, led a women’s Bible study, and is an elder of the church. She is married to David and they have two teenage boys, Alex and Evan. She enjoys long walks with her dog, Hershey, exploring new places on family trips, swimming on a master’s swim team, creating beauty, and helping those in need.
Jennifer experienced her first silent retreat at Ignatius House when she was eight months pregnant with her first child 16 years ago. It was her first taste of silence and the joy of experiencing God’s presence. Since then, attending an annual silent retreat has been a part of her rhythm.
