2-Night Retreat for Married Couples: Fall In Love, Stay In Love

June 4, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - June 6, 2021 @ 12:00 pm

$450
Weekend Retreat

Directed by Maria Cressler, MTS, and John Cressler, PhD

Married couples are invited to explore how God desires to continue to breathe life into your marriage – companioning you at each stage of your relationship. Discover anew how your spiritual journey with God and your marital journey with each other are not distinct. Rather, these two journeys are one in the same. Growing in intimacy with God inspires us to greater love and intimacy with each other. Loving each other leads to greater gratitude for God’s love. The integration of our spiritual and marital journeys together brings peace, gratitude, and joy into every aspect of our daily lives.  Limited to 11 couples, so register early!  Registration includes a 25% discount off individual pricing and a private room with full-sized bed and private bath (unless otherwise requested).

This is a silent retreat. Guests are expected to maintain a sacred silence throughout the retreat, including at meals, unless otherwise noted.

Maria G. Cressler, MTS, is the Executive Director of Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center and has served in this role since September 2009. She received a B.A. in Sociology from Georgia State University and a Master of Theological Studies and Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Spring Hill College. Her heart for Ignatian Spirituality has broadened the ministries of Ignatius House during her tenure to include programs from Spring Hill College, Hispanic retreats, teen and young adult retreats, an expansion of the Ignatian Spirituality Project serving the homeless, and efforts to help people of all lifestyles know they are children of God. Maria believes deeply that none are excluded from God’s love, in the benefit of interfaith dialogue, and in activities that encourage mutual understanding. Prior to Ignatius House, she served in pastoral and parish roles to lead programs such as prison ministry, Emmaus, Cursillo, RCIA, and JustFaith. These experiences continue to shape her deep desire to help others encounter God. Maria and her husband, John, minister together at married-couples retreats as well as at interfaith events.

John D. Cressler, PhD, is the Schlumberger Chair Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech, where he directs a large research program and teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses. He is also the Ken Byers Teaching Fellow in Science and Religion. A physicist by training, he is deeply interested in the intersection of science and religion, as well as interfaith dynamics, and during each spring semester he teaches as a liberal arts professor in the Ivan Allen College, having introduced a unique course, “Science, Engineering and Religion: An Interfaith Dialogue,” which is open to undergraduate students of all majors and years. His spiritual life centers on Ignatian (Jesuit) Spirituality, and silent retreats are a cherished part of his life. In his spare time, John is an avid hiker, a wine collector (especially Spanish and Italian wines), a mushroom forager, a vegetable gardener, and a historical novelist, not necessarily in that order. He has been married to his soulmate, Maria, for 38 years, and is the proud father of three (and now has seven grandkids!).
