Enrichment: Online Book Club – “God of Love”
February 16, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Facilitated by Marian Monahan, BA
As we move deeper into a new year with hope for understanding, equity, and healing, take a 6-week “inter-spiritual” journey into the loving heart of God. The book “God of Love: A Guide to the Heart of Judaism, Christianity and Islam” by author Mirabai Starr will be our guide. It’s a passionate and personal exploration of the interconnected wisdom of three Abrahamic faiths. Starr shares essential teachings, stories of saints and spiritual masters, and the prophetic call for peace and justice which all three traditions share. This inspiring book celebrates what unifies rather than divides, and calls the reader to recognize what Brother Wayne Teasdale described as the “shared mystic heart beating in the center of the world’s deepest spiritual traditions.”
Participants will receive a reading selection each week, then share thoughts during a 90-minute Zoom gathering. Purchase the book on your own in advance. Limited to 20 participants for the purposes of discussion.
Meetings will occur online via Zoom on Tuesday mornings from 10-11:30am beginning February 16 through March 23, 2021. Zoom login credentials will be shared in advance.
