Each of us is called to participate in the great, creative act of being a human with a story to tell. In this retreat, we will use spiritually focused writing prompts to generate new material and also engage more deeply with our individual stories and the world around us. Using imaginative prayer, a "creativity timeline," and other contemplative practices, we will look for spaces that might be invitations to write a blog post, essay, poem, or even something longer. Writing helps us know our own lives better, communicate with others, and (fingers crossed) change the world. Open-ended prompts will close each session, and participants are encouraged to write as much as they like between meeting times.
Even if you’re “not a writer,” the act of writing can be both illuminating and enlivening. What better way to start the new year than with reflection and (hopefully) the seeds of some great new project! Leave your inner critic behind, and get ready to write.
